Forums that allow GENUINE discussions on carriers?

I am new here, and interested in finding out which forums function most effectively as a place both to gather and exchange information on particular carriers without being shouted down by people who act as though a carrier was their personal religion being attacked? Why aren't there forums where experiences with particular carriers is allowed without it turning into just another internet hangout for people who think that their Idol--in this case, an airline--can do no wrong, ever, and if there is a particular criticism of that carrier's operation then it's the poster who is necessarily in the wrong. Is there an incestuous or self-serving relationship between some of these moderators and the carriers? Of course they'll always deny it, but they never act impartially.

Funny, for the most part I haven't seen that to be the case here. The regulars of UA, US, etc. seem to be plenty critical of their chosen airlines.

Are you saying you've had that experience on FT Miles or are you just making an assumption?

Maybe I've never been in the airline-specific forums where this is the case. As I said, I haven't seen it in the ones I do read.

Welcome to FT. I am not sure if you will find that here. Its possible that you are looking for another site. I have seen it mentioned before but not sure exactly what it is. This is site is basically focused on frequent flyers and the programs associated with them. Enjoy!!! and don't feed the trolls!!

The reason I won't name the carrier is because if I do (and based on recent experience with moderator called "flip") they will promptly sling it into that forum then blame me for causing and Uproar in Church. Perhaps some carriers attract different demographics and different forums consequently develop into either a fairly objective and useful place or just a House of Worship.

It's kind of hard to help you if you don't provide any specifics.

I know you're not referring to the Delta forum. It's the exact opposite -- say anything good about Delta, and the crowd will find something negative about it. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...m/rolleyes.gif

Check out what may be the only thread ever closed in the BA forum:

We may not want to feed the troll.

CrazyOne Nov 1, 2003 9:18 pm

Yes, well, I suspected that could be the case. I was hoping it wasn't....

I'd say this thread is already inappropriate. What happened in the other thread qualifies as trolling not criticism. Coming back here and accusing the large majority who disagree with your opinion as being shills, etc. is just a continuation of that trolling.

hal1050 Nov 1, 2003 9:39 pm

Not even true. You can call it whatever you want, but the fact is I asked a perfectly legitimate question, the thread was answered by a few people and then suddenly moved to a forum where a few posters began attacking me because of my remarks about an airline's service. That was what I initially asked in this thread. This thread is perfectly approrpriate, and to call it inappropriate is what is a continuation of the type of netnazi behaviour that went on by some of the long-time denizens of that forum who won't tolerate divergences of opinion from their own.

Oh, and "makinmiles"?

Just for the record, that was also me that requested of ScottC many hours ago that he either shut down or preferably entirely delete that thread many hours ago when whmere began trolling me. If you really want to check out the facts, that is.

At least you got that one right, albeit inadvertently. You're boring, just like you and your juvenile non sense of humor and transparent lying is boring, boring, boring. If you're so bored, why don't you go back to your troublemaking thread you initiated in the past few hours?

LOL!

This doesn't belong FlyerTalk. It is an attack on other members.
