Most expensive flight there is?

BA FC ORD-SYD via LHR $27,930

Hmmm. When I price that route, I get a bunch of fares in the $14000 R/T range. I can't get the $27000+ fare to show up.

Kind of makes you wonder how many people actually pay those fare. I think that by the time I was wealthy enough to throw five figures at one plane ticket, I'd rather throw seven or eight figures at my own jet.

Ya ought to have some rules in place for this one, otherwise it's up to peoples imagination. One Carrier? One Direction (meaning no double backtracking)? Limit of number of plane changes? Quickest Direction to destination? Etc....

Same kinda people who pay $20K per night for the Penthouse suite at Four Seasons New York.

A while back I started a thread in the same vein. The rules were:

1. Travel had to be non stop and originate/terminate in the same state.

2. The fare had to be the lowest published fare.

3. The flight had to be regularly scheduled.

4. The question was: Which is the most expensive.

There was some fun discussion and ANC (Anchorage) to ADK (Adak) was the winner at around $1200.

Maybe the most expensive flight should be on a rate per mile basis.

ORD-LHR-SIN-SYD is 14,625 miles, which for a fare of $27,930 is about $2 per mile.

The shortest flight in the world, Papa Westray to Westray, 2.5 miles, also on BA, has a one way fare of £14, say $21, which is about $8 per mile - four times as expensive!

Do you get tier points and miles ( http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...um/biggrin.gif) for booking this?

A friend from school who has heard (perhaps incorrectly about my ability to get cheap tickets) asked me to look for prices for a group of his friends (six) to get from LAX- Sydney next April but with a stopover in London. This guy has a fair few quid under his belt (him and his 21yr old brother have spent £15million on cars in 3years) so asked me to look into BA F

First stop ba.com...price for the six of them $184,829.16 or $30,804.86 per seat

I'll quit playing travel agent now!
