Does anyone across the pond have any knowledge of agencies that do consolidator fares for Croatia. Will be traveling FRA-SPU in March and would like to get a lower coach fare. Definetly not interested in "upgrading". As an aside, the flight is a LH code share but I don't think the LH consolidators handle that type of flight.

I managed to get very cheap OU fares CDG-ZAG (with LH codeshare) through degriftour.fr (part of lastminute.com now, but they weren't at the time).

A word of warning - if you have battery-powered devices that you carry with you, make sure you're not planning on travelling with hand luggage only. OU don't allow batteries to be carried on board (and are very insistent upon this, especially at ZAG).

I had a very nice experience on Croatian ZAD-ZAG. Would have done the ZAG-ZAD segment also, except for a very delayed BA arrival that resulted in a hired car and driver to take us to the Dalmatian coast. BA offered to pay for it (around $200), but then only reimbursed me for half of the cost.

After having done the drive, and other driving in Croatia, I would recommend flying. The roads are fine, but the distances are greater than I had expected.

Well... 350,-$ sounds a bit expensive!
I live in Germany and you can get a trip FRA-NYC rt for that price...
So, i can have a closer look at our travel agents/consolidators.
But i must say i know the market quite well and ZAG will not be extremely cheap because there´s not too much competition and the passengervolume is too small for consolidators. So i don´t know if this destination is on their list.
Of course i know some other "tricks"...

If your traveldate is march 2004 there´s still some time left for research.
It all depends whether you´re insisting on flying non-stop or not! There may be lower fares if you agree to travel e.g. FRA-PRG-ZAG (on CSA) vv. or FRA-LJU-ZAG (on Adria Aw.) vv. and so on.
I´ll start any research only if you ask me for that! I may have access to fares that are (intended) not for sale outside Germany...
Important for me would be on which exact dates you want to travel and how flexible (like a few days earlier or later) you could possibly be. It´s not a big problem if you´re not flexible but could result in a higher fare.

So, just let me know! (no, i don´t work in a travel agency nor with an airline)

Don't know about laptops, I've never travelled with one on OU... They did make me take all batteries out of the things I had with me and check them, though.

Of course, this may all have changed.

For internal journeys, there's still a number of nice train routes you can take. The night train ZAG-SPU can be lovely - I managed to get a single, first-class sleeper compartment (very nice indeed) for ca. $30.

Thanks for all the information so far. Will try sites suggested. Was getting around 400 USD with all taxes.
My wife did this trip last year and informed me about the "no batteries" restrictions.

Actually, you have to take batteries out of things you're packing in CHECKED luggage. Anything in your carry-on is OK.
