One Drink at a Time
I was recently flying coach from Zurich to Dallas. I asked the FA for a double gin/tonic. The FA told me she could only sell me one at a time but that she'd be back soon. I bought 1 gin and tonic and she was back within 5 minutes to sell me another.
Can anyone tell me why FAs are now only allowed to sell one bottle at a time? I knew I wanted two and thought it'd be easier to give her the $10 bill and buy two rather than having her make change. Does the airline make these rules or does the pilot? [This message has been edited by bluewatersail (edited 09-17-2003).] |
Dare I ask, was this a US-based airline? I have noticed them becoming increasingly strict concerning the regulation of in-flight alcohol sales. I have recently flown transatlantic with both BA and LH, and there appeared to be no limit whatsoever on the (free in coach) alcohol service, not that I took that as a reason to drink myself silly!

I assume this was AA. I've never heard of a one drink at a time rule - but then I'm usually up front. In J and F I have had AA FAs give me doubles without asking; they usually comment that I look like I like to drink and they didn't want me to run out in 5 minutes. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...um/biggrin.gif |
At least she came back to you. On a CO flight recently from DUB to EWR they wouldn't even give me a full CAN of soda.

I didn't think you were allowed to drink in AA.

AA's new slogan?

There were a couple of bars like that when I was just out of college, you could pay for as many as you wanted, but could only get one at a time, the others were shot glasses you could redeem for drinks. By the end of the night with everybody buying rounds, you always had this pile of shot glasses you would convert into drinks and down one after the other.
Never understood why that was a better plan then just lining the drinks up all night. |
It must be for security reasons. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/frown.gif
