Hurricane Isabel
Hurricane Isabel is quickly heading towards the eastern seaboard, and looks like it will be pretty strong.

Obviously none of us can predict the weather, but how far away does the storm need to be for an airport to operate normally? I ask because I am flying ORD-CLT-TLH (Tallahasee, FL) on Friday. If the storm hits the east coast of North Carolina, will CLT airport be affected? What about ATL? Does anyone have experience flying during storms like this in the past? For those of you on the eastern seaboard and who may be hit by Isabel, please be careful! Living in Virginia Beach, I just finished canceling all my travel for the week. I don't see CLT itself being a problem on Friday, but flight patterns will be impacted as they always are in hub airports. As of Monday noon, the forecast is not good for the mid-atlantic region.

Wouldn't the huricane be considerably weaker by the time it reaches mid-atlantic states? I haven't lived in this area for too long , but have any major huricanes ever hit DC or NY?

Looks to be heading for land at Morehead City, NC - right where my parents live.
They are staying in the house since they are about 3 miles inland, but friends that live right on the water are leaving. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hope everyone else here is ok too ------------------ http://www.benjaminwagner.com Great music! |
