What do you usually do with ticket stubs?
What do you do with ticket stubs after completing the trip? Do you usually trash them after getting the miles, or store then for some other reason?
I throw mine away as soon as the mileage posts.
I scatter them liberally around the house to impress the housekeeper.
If they are the stiff type as opposed to the flimsy paper kind my husband uses them for bookmarks as he always has a book with him when he travels. There are probably some old ones stuck in books around here. Other than that as someone said before they go in the trash after the miles have posted.
I use them for bookmarks too!
Into the shredder, as soon as the miles post. Or at least mine do. JetDillo seems to have a soft spot for collecting them.
I shred most paper out of habit, I don't want anything with personally identifying information going out in the trash/recycle. Our cans are regularly dumped out all over the street, it's amazing what kind of personal papers/mail I've found out there. |
I save them all for tax reasons. For U.S. citizens, depending on your situation, you may have to prove that you were outside the U.S. for a certain amount of time for tax credits. A couple of years, I had to go through all my boarding pass stubs to list the dates I was outside the U.S. The IRS could audit me and ask me to produce the stubs (as an easy way to prove where I was).
If its a mileage redemption trip, I usually keep the stubs - often its the only physical memory of the trip. Otherwise, byebye when the mileage posts.
I just keep them with the credit card receipt.
Book marks or expense report file.
I keep them in a large stack that is a few inches high. When I end up with the cheap paper stubs from the CO e-check-in machines I usually ask the gate agent to print me out one on real card stock.

I scan them to keep a record, then I throw them out. I keep the electronic copy in PaperPort in case I need to claim the mileage.

They get taped to a piece of paper and get turned in when I file expense reports.
I wallpaper my room, replacing an ugly border that came with the house. I've gone half-way around my office.
... and I'm making a dress. Anyone see the dress made out of American Express cards? That was my inspiration.
I'll have a coordinating purse made out of a few of the "do not disturb" signs I've pilfered. |
