Partial Refund of a non-refundable ticket
Not sure if you know this but... At least United (maybe others) will give you back money (in the form of travel credits) for a flight that you book, where the prices drops after you book it.
Example: Denver to St. Louis around XMAS. Booked it at $317. Frontier Airlines added the route and forced the price down to $213. United price matched. Called United. Travel credit coupons to be mailed in 3-4 weeks. |
I just dealt with this on AA. I had purchased a RT ticket JFK/FLL. It was dirt cheap to begin with, $150. But I checked and a few days later it was $130. I call AA and they are sending me a voucher for $20. No problem at all. They were very nice about it. Actually I was embarrassed to ask for the money back, but I forced myself.

NW offers MCO's for a price drop or fare decrease... but there's a $25 service charge.
