Which lounge program?
 

I live in Australia and usually travel internationally on Star Alliance. I'm planning a trip with my wife and infant (under 2 years) daughter. I want to be able to use airport lounges around the world. What's the smart thing to do? Should I join a particular airline's lounge program (which one?) or should I join one of those programs which lets you use any lounge for a fixed fee per visit?

If you already travel around the world on Star Alliance, then you should soon be if not already are Star Gold which would grant you complimentary access to Star Gold lounges on the day of your international travel, no?
