Washington DC to Niagara Falls

Hello all, some of my relatives and I will be taking a roadtrip this weekend driving from Washington DC (well, Gaithersburg MD to be exact) up to Niagara Falls this weekend, and I was wondering if someone can recommend a good route to take.

I hope this is in the right forum...

I don't remember the exact route numbers in MD, but it's pretty obvious from the map. Once you get to Breezewood, PA, you take the PA Pike north to Erie, and then get on Interstate 90. This turns into the NYS Thruway a few miles up the road (toll road) which will then take you pretty much right to Niagara Falls.

I used to make the trip in about 7-8 hours, depending on stops and how lucky I felt. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif

BTW, the stops on both the PA Pike and the Thruway have been upgraded in recent years, so stopping for quick bite or a cuppa on the way can be very relaxing.

The weather's pretty nice this time of year - have a nice trip - it can be quite scenic!
