carry-on a tripod?
Am I just asking for trouble if I try to bring a tripod w/ my carry-on?
I have a camera bag that allows me to attach my tripod externally to the bag. I know that things like golf clubs, ski poles, etc are not permitted, so I am going to assume that a tripod is probably out of the question. any one have firsthand experience? |

I have not carried tripod since 911 except wrapped in large checked in bag. I have a short trip soon and was going to attach to camera bag. |
I put my tripod/monopod in my checked bag. I'm not up to arguing any more. I find that the plastic bag that comes on the Sunday paper is just about the right size....and price to cover the tripod and keep everything in the bag tidy.

Anyone tried to carry on a tripod lately? I have a miniature carbon fiber tripod I bought so that I could easily travel with it. However, given that it cost $300, I am not inclined to check it in my suitcase.
I would prefer to carry it on. Worst case, I'll pack my $30 Costco "Kirkland Signature" tripod. |
My wife is a photgrapher and we flew MSP - LHR via AMS last August no problem with a tripod as I rememeber

I regularly fly with an aluminium tripod in my carry-on and have never been hassled.
