Baggage recommendations

I'm new to FT and looking for both a carry-on and 4-7 day luggage. I pack as light as possible and attempt to carry everything on the plane with me, if at all possible. All you Biz FF please give me advice.
Thanks!

I'm sure you will get as many different choices as you get answers. I recently purchased this bag:

(the link is to the manfg's website) and really like it. without expanding it can function as a carry on, and for three or four day trips it's been able to carry everything I need. It's proably the best organized bag I've had to date.

They list it for $305, it sells for considerably less then that at places like Magellans and other online retailers.

This will definitely help me narrow my search. Word of mouth is always the best way to get information. Thanks a million!

Carry-on: LowePro Madison 1200. Fabulous carry-on; more of a briefcase than a bag you'd use for clothing, etc, but you could easily fit in a day's worth of clothes into it. Do a search on epinions.com for my review.

Checked: I just picked up a 26" Samsonite and couldn't be happier.

Marshalls' ( at least in the DC area) usually have a large collection of mix and match roller luggage at greatly reduced prices. These are closeouts, and high quality bags can usually be found at about 30-50% of expected price. Great color selection also, as colors other than black do not sell well.

If you are tall, definitely check out the Travelpro rollaboards, specificcally the Platinum 3 series. They have a special type of handle that extends and get be set at certain angles. I am 6.4" and often find the normal handles of other rollaboards are to short for comfort, resulting in my heels kicking the bag when rolling it behind me. The Platinum 3 series is by far the best design I have found to date, very comfortable to roll for long distances.

I have used Samsonite bags for the last 10 years. My carry on is still ths same as when I started my roller bag is about 2 years old. I think they are great and last very well. For checked luggage used about 20-30 times a year they hold out well for about 3 years.
