What about the A350, A360, and A370?
Does anyone know why Airbus skipped these three designations and went straight to A380 for their new jumbo plane?

The fuselage has the shape of an "8" (double bubble).
BTW Unimatrix One, does your username come from "a place outside of the collective"? http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif ------------------ truly yours. airOli. |
Well it took Boeing nearly 40 years to skip back to the 717 (the re-branded DC-9).

The 717 designation was used before. I forgot what plane it was. Was it similar to the 707 and made for the USAF?
Boeing also made the 720, a shorter range and smaller version 4 engine plane, that shared some parts with the 707. If the A300 and A310 is relaunched, it could conceivably be named the A350 and A360. |
Military 707's are KC-135's The other "707" that was modified was actually called a "720"
