No, I was saying that by opening the online account I got 5,000 AAdvantage miles. The ATM withdrawals are just normal ATM withdrawals, but no fees by CitiFi and they reimburse any fees that may be imposed by the bank whose ATM you use.
Yes, I'm aware that many accounts offer this, but usually the minimum balance to qualify is higher than I have available ("I own a house in San Francisco, therefore I have no savings!" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif). CitiFi was $1,000 minimum to open and get the 5,000 mile bonus, and no account fees if I keep $1,000 with them (money market counts, so I'm earning at least a bit of interest). Whenever I take a foreign trip - my Bank of America ATM card covers me in most of the USA now - I'll mail the anticipated cash needed to my CitiFi account, so it will be there waiting to be withdrawn when I get to wherever...and my overall balance will still not dip below $1,000 (imposing a monthly fee). |
There appears to be some excellent advice in this thread about the best ways to exchange currency at the best exchange rates while paying as little in fees as possible.
Of course, it does not help that the exchange rate between the United States dollar and the Euro is currently unfavorable to Americans. Does anyone have any additional information that would make this three-year-old thread current? |

I use this service whenever I can, along with charging most everthing else. In the interests of disclosure, I am a former BofA employee and work for another financial institution. |
