Aircraft nicknames
 

Anyone remember the old Plane Business board? It had threaded forums similar to FTs. I remember one of all-time favorite threads was about aircraft nicknames.

Well, those forums were closed down ages ago due to excessive flaming (even with moderators), but I'd love to start re-compiling that list.

The only ones I can remember are Jethro Jets/Jungle Jets/Barbie Fun Jets referring to Brasilias.

Can anyone else add to this?

I've heard pilots call the 727 the "Jurassic Jet."

L-1011 stands for "late 10 out of 11 times"

Boeing 737's ==> Fat Albert
Boeing 727's ==> The Harley

the 727 was also called "the three holer".

I miss 'em.. What a great plane.
