CO or AA
I'm planning on commuting back and forth to my friends in PBI from PIT a few times in June, and find it's somewhat cheaper to fly to FLL, which is usually where I fly when I go there anyway. Thing is, I'm definitely not going to take US... they want to disregard PIT, PIT's travellers can disregard them! I looked, and the fares on AA and CO are within $5 of eachother. So, one of those two will be my choice. My question is, since my carriers I'm on every week or so (NW or US) are not my choices here, who should I pick? AA's MRTC is tempting, but I get WorldPerks credit on CO (as far as I know....?) My uncle is a frequent (DAILY!) traveller, and has nothing but the best to say of CO, so I'm interested to try them, too..... Haven't been on them for awhile.... I think my last was a NW codeshare through IAH a few years ago..... any input? All your help's appreciated!

Depends on what is more important to you and which airline (plus its partners) has the best route map for you.
AA will provide a more pleasant Y experience from your first (non-elite) flight. AA also provides almost-humane customer service to its low-elites, something UA, DL, and US absolutely do not do. (Don't know about CO.) AA provides what I would call semi-friendly service to its mid-elites, which is unique in the industry. I'm sure top-level on both carriers garners good service. AA will never get you unlimited upgrades unless you are buying full-Y. I've heard that CO wins higher marks in this area. I'm an AA flier and I've stopped obsessing about upgrades: domestic F is only about two inches and a couple free beers better than Y, so that isn't all that important to me. It'll probably come down to whoever has the best schedule for your routes... |
CO has an airport club at FLL, if that makes any difference.
If you travel mostly in North America, I would recommend CO because of their unlimited upgrade policy. AA's MRTC is really nice, but if you can sit on first, why cares? I believe AA serves the infamous cold "bistro bag" on this short route while CO will get you a hot sandwich if you stuck in coach. My recommendation is to find a way to get an elite comp from CO. |
