For the person who says they don't know how to open the door on a 767:

I taught my daughter from the age of 5 (when she started traveling alone) to look at the safety information card EVERY time she flies. She understands SHE must know how to open the aircraft doors in an emergency and not expect a flight attendant to do it for her.

When she was little I would tell her, "You might not be strong enough to do it yourself, but you can show an adult how to do it if you memorize the pictures on the card." Now she is 15 and I would trust her to "man" the door or window exit anytime.

Every passenger should know how to open all the exit types on the aircraft each time they fly---FAs can get injured, killed, or panic during emergencies. And you might be sitting near an exit that is inoperable, then have to use a different type of exit than the one nearest you. Read the card, it can definitely save your life.

Dianne47,
I watch the safety video every time too. But I'd still prefer to have someone with 6 weeks of training on safety procedures to be in charge of "manning" the door.
In other words, if someone went in to cardiac arrest, you could have anyone who took a CPR class attempt to revive the patient. But it would obviously be better to have a healthcare professional.
-Mats.
