IIRC it's also on the left wall as you enter the "bridge" part on your way down to the plane. I always look for it because my company used to be owned by FMC & one of my co-workers occasionally did some structural analyses for Jetway.

Added: And to complete the loop on this thread topic back to the original post, the FMC Corporate Tech Center used to be in San Jose, just across the road from SJC, where they still don't have "boarding bridges" at many gates.

Has anyone mentioned KOA? You'll see 747s arriving from Japan requiring stairs.

Other non-Jetwayed airports include REL (minor).

I was going to say KOA but someone beat me to it. If I'm not mistaken, PPT (Papeete, French Polynesia) has no jetways. I think that it counts as a major airport. It does get 747s, A340s, etc.
