Paris CDG Security
Last week I transited CDG arriving from Moscow. They have now added a checkpoint for security when you enter hall c for departures to the US. There is really no reason for this checkpoint since you are already inside the secure area.
They completely search everh nook and cranny of your already searched carryons bags. So far just one of those silly French things. Problem is that I am diabetic and take insulin. They took it away and said that the flight captain had to approve me taking it on board the aircraft. They refused to give me a reciept. They also have no name tags on the security people and no one would give me their name. When the flight checked in one of the Delta agenst walked down to the security area and got the stuff and gave it to me. No involvement with the captain of the flight. What gives? Is this American Anti War policy or what? ------------------ Mike Newell [email protected] |
No, its not anti-American - its everywhere - most airports now have either a dedicated part of the terminal for US flights OR additional gate security. I am not opposed to this in airports that arriving and departing passengers otherwise mix. In an airport where arriving passengers are kept separate, it should be unnecessary.

Sorry to hear your story!
I also had a very bad experience ad CDG flying back with AF to ATL. They posted 3+ security people on the "bridge" to the plane. I am not going to give further details, but the French security people acted really, really rude (to Mrs. USAFAN) ...and I am trying to forget the whole episode. They did not have an uniform, and would not give me their names .. anybody could have search me, Mrs. USAFAN's hand luggage. Vive La France ... I just hope blairvanhorn doesn't read my comments.... Blair..., I still love France! |

This was done to appease the nimrods at the TSA... EVERY inbound international flight to the US has to have the airport operator/security operator do the extra security dog and pony show to appease the TSA.
So now we force our stupdity to go around the world. This is NOT unique to France or CDG [This message has been edited by NickP 1K (edited 04-15-2003).] |
Yeah, those additional security checks abroad for US bound flights are mandated by the US government.
Also, the US authorities are soon requiring foreign airlines to supply them with the travel history and other info of every pax they carry to the US (supposedly to help profiling terrorism suspects). The cost of building a system for collecting such info is one thing, but it is also illegal in most European countries. |
So? Next the U.S. will force these countries to change their laws. Don't like it? Get ready for the invasion! And it's all so meaningless and ineffective, anyway. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/frown.gif
