unfriendly FA's
I normally don't mind FA's not being super friendly.
However, after a hellish week today, as I'm flying home on the last leg of my flight, even though I'm sick, and feeling totally worn out, I try to have an upbeat attitude. As I board the plane, I see a young female FA. I give her a big smile and say warmly "Hi, how are you?" Nothing. A blank, cold stare. During the flight she performs her duty without any enthusiam, even almost arguing with another PAX - although that PAX was a bit demanding and not too compliant with instructions. After we land, as I walk out, I smile warmly again, and say "Thank you very much!" Nothing, another blank and cold stare. I've encountered all sorts of FA's, but most are sincerely helpful, and at least pretend to care. Never met someone so unenthusiastic and cold. As I was walking to the curb at the airport, I'm feeling extremly sorry for that FA. How sad to be so unsociable when you have to deal with the public... |
Maybe her job has been cut? Just a thought. I don't imagine I'd have a smile if I was about to become unemployed.

If it was a UA FA, it was probably the thrill of having her pay cut from $11 per hr to $7 or so per hour.
I have actually been amazed as to how nice the UA FA's have been in the face of these sized cuts and salaries, while UA pilots are paid close to $1000 per hour. |
What airline were you flying?

That's better than the rude ones. They do happen from time to time - when they do, I just put myself in the mindset of "this flight is going to suck" pretty quickly so I don't have any further aggravation. If the service is really bad and rude, I may follow up after the flight. Some people do not belong working in a service industry.
