Climate-controlled jetways?
After returning from an extended trip involving frequent hopping between snowbound and tropical airports, I started noticing some airports featured either heated or AC'ed jetways, a much appreciated feature when not wearing suitable clothing.
I realize jetways are leaky and unisulated structures, but a stream of warm or cool air can really help when for instance there is a line in subzero weather. Definitely not climate-controlled: - AMS, GVA, VIE, ZRH Heated: ICN (intelligent design with one blower oriented toward the jetway from building) Air-conditioned: SIN (lateral vents all along the jetway, seems costly) I didn't notice at other airports visited on this trip as the weather was mild enough as is. As a rule though, it seemed European airports did not feature climate control, while the newer 'flagship' Asian ones did (not sure about KUL). Additions to this list welcome. |
