Thanksgiving Bumps
So, who got bumped over the weekend? I was not flying, but from what the talking heads on the news said, it was not that busy for the most part.

I got bumped on MCO to ATL on Saturday at 2:00 pm for a party of 5 and received vouchers for $400 each.
|
I was bumped NW28 NRT-SFO to JAL2 NRT-SFO two hours later. Got $400 voucher.
|
One of my housemates was bumped on NW PHL-MSP for a free ticket in the continental 48, Canada etc. He could have taken a second bump, but he had to get back here.
|
I opted to get bumped from Sunday pm to Monday am on DL from ATL to DCA. Got a $400 voucher for my troubles.

I was bumped on Sunday Dec. 1 from AA#4849, the 7:00pm American Eagle flight from JFK to DCA.
Received a $250 voucher for volunteering, and I could have gotten dinner, a hotel room and breakfast before returning from NYC to Washington Monday morning, but I saved AA some money by standing by and getting flown to BWI at 9:30pm on AA#4832; a friend who lives near me in Virginia was on that flight and gave me a lift home from BWI. At one point late Sunday afternoon, it seemed like every Eagle departure from JFK was overbooked and calling for volunteers. |
Please post your bumps at www.bumptracker.com
I was shut out: 0 for 6 on Wed/Sun. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/frown.gif |
Spiff,
Is there any way to add nire cities to the bump tracker. I could have added a few bumps in the past if GRR, YEG, and YYC had been on there. Thanks! |
Send an email to [email protected] and he will add the cities to the drop-down lists for you.

10 flights from 11/26-12/02 and no oversold flights on UA-except 1. They IDB'd a 1K and his family of 3 from a LAX-PSP flight, $800 bucks.

11/27 ITH-PIT 700a, ITH-PHL 600a, ITH-LGA 610a?
I was on ITH-PIT. Free round-trip voucher. Reroute on some other flight. Because I was headed to FNT on NW metal, the agent couldn't bump me since he claimed that all flights to FNT on NW metal were sold out for the day. Lesson learned: Don't EVER volunteer for a stupid round-trip voucher, esp. since it doesn't earn miles and it comes out of restrictive inventory. 11/27 DTW-FNT 1213p 1 volunteer needed. $200 TCV. Rebooked to 140p flight. Didn't get it as I was volunteer number 2. Lesson learned: Waiting for the agent to show up take precedence over a hungry stomach. Call it the $200 lunch. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...m/rolleyes.gif (For those of you who took economics, it's called the opportunity cost was $200.) 12/01 DTW-NRT NW85 145p (I was on the DTW-SYR flight, which didn't require volunteers, which departed right across from this flight.) For business class passengers only. Needed 2 pax to give up their seats in exchange for coach, $750 TCV, and a full refund on their ticket. Initially was at $500 TCV but later increased. Lesson learned: (Hypothetically if I were on the flight.) If they're that desperate, demand the $750, skip the refund, and get booked on another flight to NRT the next day - or to NGO that day on NW metal, with a connection on JAS or ANA to NRT. - Pat |
Every UA flight out of SEA on 12/01 was overbooked. They were offering a free R/T ticket + hotel and dinner to leave the next day at 11am!! 24 hours later. I was on UA 338 in F and they were basically begging for volunteers, after a while they upped the stakes to include an upgrade coupon.
I couldn't do it because I had to work, and a good thing too, because it snowed 12/02 and everything into ORD was delayed. ------------------ "I just wanna wish you good luck, we're all counting on you" -Dr. Rumack |
DL had a full flight from SJU to ATL and ATL to RIC on Monday. But no overbooking http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/frown.gif So I was left holding 2 boarding passes instead of a VDB voucher.
But they did Op upgrade me to FC on Thursday http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif Go Delta!!! |
DL 1530 DFW-BOS 11/30 7:35pm
Needed 14 volunteers. My wife and I got $400 each plus dinner, hotel (we got a suite!), and breakfast. DL 752 DFW-BOS 12/1 7:30am Needed 20 volunteers. $400 offered, but I had to get back to BOS to do some homework. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/frown.gif It seemed like DFW-BOS was oversold all day on Sunday. |
