How Good Was That $20 BA Thing?
FTer's are some of the most traveled individuals on earth - are there any deals you have ever seen/purchased that were better? I'm focusing more on deals available to the general public rather than pudding-man type scenarios.
For example, aside from the NYC - CAI BA ticket, the best two deals I ever saw were the 9/11 free flight by Spirit (and I did snag that), and also once, a couple years ago, I did a search on Travelocity for JFK - BCN, and found something for $232 (including taxes) on Delta, which naturally disappeared within seconds. There's another thread under Mileage Run you might want to take a look at that basically asks the same question. It's called "How many such error fare have you guys seen?" and is currently on the second page. It contains a pretty good rundown of the errors over the last year or so. There have also been some pretty nice deals that weren't errors. $199 on Jan. 1, 2000 from SFO-NRT r/t on CO(NW) was a good deal that wasn't an error.

There was a zero ($0) roundtrip fare on I believe United a few years ago, from anywhere in the U.S. to Europe, I think.
You only had to pay the $28 in taxes. |
I know I should not contribute to a topic already beaten to death, but I can't help myself.
I used to stand on the principal that I wouldn't accept something that isn't mine if offered by error. However I, as most of us in the modern world, spend ALL DAY LONG dealing with the mistakes of STUPID INDIFFERENT people. These mistakes are NEVER in our favor (i.e. airlines, American Express, the phone company, the clerk that can't make change or overcharges you, or makes up rules on the fly, etc.) They suck up an amazing amount of time and effort just to get back to break-even. If once in a blue moon an error is in my favor I NOW TAKE IT. It still doesn't come close to making up for all the others that go against me and I don't have the time and energy to fight or perhaps don't even notice. Just my new and improved view on the matte |
