Herndon, VA

So I just found out my next possible client is in Herndon, VA. What is this near and where would I fly into to get there?

Thanks!

It's right outside of Washington, D.C., just a couple miles from Dulles Airport, you know, the lovely place with mobile lounges?

Prncess, you will be less than five miles from my office

IAD: five miles
DC: about 25 miles down the toll road to66 East into the city
Tyson's Corner: 10 miles
Herndon it self has the Marriott Suites, Courtyard; SH Suites; Hyatt dulles; Hyatt Reston close by; Closest Starwood is Sheraton Reston which is a dump; Sheraton Tysons Corner which is aging but not bad; Hiltons would be Hilton Dulles, Hampton Inn Dulles, Hampton Inn Sterling 8 miles, Hawthorne Suites, Marriott Tyson's, Marriott Dulles, Residence Inn Tyson's (2 of them) and a few more that I can't think of right now

Food; within a five to 8 mile radius; all the chains from expensive to fast food and all points in between

Fire me an email with specifics and I'll tell ya and If I don't know I'll find out

welcome to NoVa

Edited to add: I believe you are CO right: well IAH service sucks out of IAD. Three flights non stop a day of which one will be an RJ sometime in 03 (I think the 6:15 a.m. flight if I remember correctly) or you can RJ to EWR/CLE and connect.

DCA is 30 plus miles away with full jet service and BWI is 55 miles away with full jet service.

I like the Hyatt Reston the best of those listed as one can walk to dinner and shopping.

TojanHorse,

Sounds like a Marriott town. I am such a Hilton/SPG girl! Doesn't sound like great choices in either category.

I am not a 100% for the project yet. The partner in charge just threw this at me, but I did just throw back to him that I would be on sick leave for surgery the first two weeks of January so he may just not assign me to the project because of the conflict. I will keep you posted if and when I make it up there.

There used to be UA nonstops from MSY to IAD. Not sure what the frequency is nowadays.

Dulles can be a pain, because of the time it can take to get from taxi/ rental car to gate.

Herndon is a nice place, and I know there are some HHonors choices in the area, because I was working in Tyson's during a CNTU run a year or two ago. I forget 'em all, but I know there are a couple of Doubletrees around, definitely some clean, new Hamptons, and a Hilton in Arlington that was pretty skanky, but far enough away from Herndon that you won't be considering it anyway.

I especially love the area of Virginia about 30 minutes west of Herndon. A beautiful area with lots of small towns, some of which produce some surprisingly-good wine.

Actually the Embassy Suites "Dulles Airport" is quite nice and not a true airport hotel.

It was just about two years ago, when I was at this hotel and met geo1004 for the first time in Tyson's Corner.

Close to Reston Town Center too. Several good restaurants there including my favorite, Rio Grande Cafe http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif

Chex is correct; I forgot about this hotel; It actually may be in Herndon too. Its right off the toll road about 3 or 4 miles from IAD; A nice ES with the whole 9 yards for Breakfast and happy hour; This also reminds me there is a new Homewood Suites IAD less than a mile from the ES and also near the Hyatt IAD. AuH20 is correct; the best of them though is the Hyatt Reston; just a hop skip and a jump from Herndon; in Reston Town Center; has the skating rink out back now that its winter; Many restaurants in the town center; it is worth a look; it also is the most priciest of all the hotels as well. You should have free parking at 99% of these hotels as well. I'm guessing you will have a car; but if not; they all have IAD shuttles.
