Cheap flight from Rome to Paris
 

I need two one-way seats from ROM to PAR on 11/6.

All the majors are quoting me about 600+ Usd.

Only alternative I have seen is Air Libya for 29 Euros, but the agency that quoted me won't ship tickets outside of Italy. And don't even get me started on flying Air Libya.

Is there a cheapo airline that serves the route that I don't know about? (I'll take any suggestions...)

Is the $600 per person or for both tickets? If it's the former, you can get a rt FCO-CDG leaving on 11/6 for around $340.

A better deal, if price is the main criterion, is a rt FCO-BRU on AZ (Alitalia) for $168 (Travelocity, maybe you can do even better elsewhere), then hop on the train from Brussels to Paris (they leave about every hour from the south station, and the trip takes about 1h45min.)

It's $600 per, unfortunately.
But yours is a great suggestion. Unless I can get a direct flight, I'll use it.

Ryanair have got Ciampino to Brussels for EUR 60. For that price, you could probably afford to add on first class on the train to recover from it, if you have the time!

Have you considered booking a r/t and throwing away the return??

There is an Italian low cost carrier called Ciao-Fly, but the webite is under construction (go figure!)

Sadly intra-european flights can be very expensive. Especially mid-week and even more so on a one-way basis.

Lowest published I found was AZ for £220 (about $330) r/t or on CSA via PRG for £197 ($300) one way.

Besides Ryanair, there is VirginExpress which operates from Fiumicino (FCO) to BRU. It's 60 Euros o/w. Even if they had a connection available, the train from BRU would almost be as fast. However, don't forget to factor in train fare (www.thalys.com) which will be another 60 euro pp. So that would be about $250 total

Of course there is an overnight train from Rome to Paris non-stop. Leave at 19:30 arrive at 10 am.

There is no 'Air Libya'. Libya's airline is called Libyan Arab Airlines, and I doubt they have traffic rights between France and Italy.

I believe what you are calling 'Air Libya' is Air Liberté, a respectable if financially pressed airline (code: IW), formerly owned by Swissair.

They indeed have a €29 fare between Roma Fiumicino and Paris Orly, which comes out to €36.44 with tax, and is available on 11/6 for two passengers. FCO dpt @ 10:15, 16:15, 20:15, arrival 2 hours later, MD83 service.

FYI Ryanair flies to Charleroi airport, which is 40 miles/1 hour from the Brussels main train station.

What an idiot. I should have remembered and realised. Friends keep telling me that the cheapest way of flying to a European city is to buy an FR ticket to the next city. I never listen, do I?
