If your flying to the Gulf, I hope you
like obnoxious passengers and pilots
who don't give a hoot about soft landings!

you can earn star alliance miles or redeem on Emirates.

Consistently voted one of the best airlines in the world...

Though when you read the reviews it is hard to see why, and I have never flown them.

I think they are great!

You get real knives, First Class is great with loads of room, Business Class service is the best (although the seats aren't as nice as some airlines). Food is great, and although the passengers can be unique to say the least-the pilots are all British and do a good job landing in my opinion.

Entertainment is also the best I have seen, with interactive games you can play with every passenger, personal movies in Business/First, a huge selection of audio and video programming for all, and they pick you up and drop you off in most cities if you are flying in a premium class.

I have no complaints at all, and with there routes expanding to more and more destinations monthly it is becoming possible to fly them to places other than just Dubai. I hope Emirates joins up with a major alliance (Star). It would greatly improve their exposure to the Middle East and Africa as well as the Sub-Continent. Oh, and if I'm not mistaken I think Emirates is the launch customer for the A380 (I know they placed a large order) which means business must be heading in the right direction-United, USAir cough,cough...

I flew Emirates about 8 years ago HKG-MNL. Service was great - each seat in coach had individual screens (rare back then).

But what I remember the most was the beautiful FA that I kept staring at. Hey, I was just a little kid in college back then... http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...um/biggrin.gif

It's been awhile, but when I flew them in Business, they were great. You even got a present at the end of the flight! As christep says, they've won numerouse awards and even airline of the year. Only downside is that they do have 10 abreast seating on their 777 aircraft (most airlines are 9 abreat).

You can earn miles with United (it used to be only on code share flights), but the miles don't count towards status.

So if you have an opportunity to fly with them, go for it.
