Need some advice on NY area

I will be flying from the NY area to Europe in late September. I am not looking forward to leaving from either JFK or EWR as things are at the moment. I will be staying in NJ.

Is there anything to gain (peace of mind, less stress, etc... time is not a factor) by driving up to Westchester County, returning my hire car there and taking a short flight to YYZ to connect to an AC or LH flight to Europe.

I was thinking smaller airport, less distances, less stress, less people, less lines, etc...

Is my logic flawed somewhere? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Greetings from White Plains.

There's only 1 problem, if you're paying for a ticket, prices from HPN are usually more expensive than EWR or the other NY airports.

Now if you're flying on an award ticket...

Thanks Dan, actually I'm on a *A RTW ticket. So flying out of HPN to YYZ on AC wouldn't be an issue. But does what I am thinking make sense?

Snoopy, that sounds like a lot to do in order to avoid flying from EWR or JFK. I don't think it's worth the hassle to go up to Westchester, fly to Canada, then fly to Europe unless you want to go Westchester and spend some time in YYZ. I've flown to Europe twice since last September from EWR: once last December (to FRA) and once in February (to MAD, returned via CDG). I don't think it's worth it to avoid EWR but that's my humble opinion.

I live in Connecticut, something like 15 - 20 minutes from White Plains, and drive right by it time and time again to fly out of Newark or JFK. Parking up there can be a real hassle, there aren't as many flight options should things go wrong, ther ebe delays, etc, and I haven't found the other airports to be that much of a hassle.
