While it is convenient when you need to go to downtown DC, it is anything but convenient when you need to go to IAD.

LH often promotes the PHL flights (with bonus miles) - so I don't think this flight segment is too popular = crowded in average. But ... didn't you just mention, that you can't 'afford' to go 'stand-by' on a employee-fare 10%-fare? But at the same time you want to get bumped (for the miles or $$$)?
