Barbados Hotels

My wife and I are flying to BGI for the first week of Sep on our AA miles and are still shopping around for a hotel. We're considering the Crystal Cove, but $350/night seems a litlle steep- even if it's an all inclusive.
Does anyone have any recomendations on this hotel or any other?
Furthermore, what are your experiences at the barganing table with hotels where you're not a regular guest- do you find that they throw in a free night, upgrade you, or go down a couple of $$$'s?
Thank's for your help.

Unfortunately, they are all mighty expensive down there, although Sept is somewhat off-peak.

In the St James area, there were some really nice places like The Sandpiper Hotel and Discovery Bay Hotel.

Years ago, my family spent time each summer next door to the Sandpiper (individual cottages and a beautiful beach). It can get a little pricey, but worth a look.

I always stay at The Accra Beach Hotel..roughly $160/nite..killer beach and top notch rooms! I highly recommend this property. The Hilton re-building is still " up in the air" since being torn down in 1998.

Thank you all- I've got a few more leads now, maybe I'll actually get around to posting a trip report once I get everything squared away! Here's a link I found whilst researching... didn't plan on going to the east coast anyway.
