I've needed to know this same information for another non-"sleazy" reason: some companies fly employees in economy, unless one demonstrates that the business class ticket purchased is no more expensive than full Y.

If the question was something along the lines of "how do I find what a full-fare coach ticket is between A and B", I'd think that's innocent.
Instead, he asked for the HIGHEST fare. And then it turns out he wanted the data for an expense report and was told the amount he'd be allowed to expense. That, for me, clearly spells out an attempt to pad the expense report by filling in the highest possible fare. In the case Efrem cited, you guys priced out the itinierary in J vs. Y and locked down the prices. If a discount business fare was available, that would have been the basis for comparison. You wouldn't be looking for the HIGHEST business fare possible. So while it could be innocent, I personally doubt it. |
Perhaps I am not being clear. The amount to be expensed is fixed, regardless of the actual price for the travel dates. So, independent of whether the price is higher or lower than that number, the expense is fixed.
To the original question, I was curious how one would go about finding the highest price. Thanks for all of your answers and your opinions. |

I really should read before clicking submit now http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by drtravels (edited 08-05-2002).] |
