Hotel room for 2 - single or double?
I'm pretty confused. In the U.S. the meaning for the room types are as fallows:
King Size - one bed - 1 or 2 people Queen - one bed - 1 or 2 people 2 Doubles - 2 beds - 2-4 people In Europe it seems like they go by: Single or Double When you change number of people from 1 to 2, sometimes it changes the price sometimes it doesn't. Does single and double means the same as it sounds? I mean, if you pick single you going to get one bed and only one small bed http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif so only ONE person can sleep there or what? Please explain. Thank |
The UK and Amsterdam are two place I can comment on with personal experience. A single does mean a single bed for one person, a twin will be two twin(single)beds and a double will be a double or queen size bed for two people. There are very few king size beds in the UK hotels you will likely get a double or at best a queen size bed. So if you need two beds or one bed for two people make sure and specify that there are two people in the room. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif You might can book a single room rate and get a bigger bed but it's not guaranteed.

When you book a single, instead of a double or twin in Europe and Japan, the room size is also usually smaller.
