Holden Commodore?

I've rented a Holden Commodore V6 for 10 days in Australia. Does anyone have experience with this car? What would it compare to in the US?

It's a full size based on the old European Opel Omega's RWD chassis (later also used for the Cadillac Catera), but with a larger body and longer wheelbase.

The engine is the same 3.8 pushrod V6 found in large FWD Buicks and Pontiacs, good for about 200hp in Australian trim.

Build quality is average, but this car is extremely spacious, and quite comfortable. Think of it as a modern cross between a Bonneville and a Caprice Classic.

It has the added advantage of not attracting attention, and running on regular unleaded.

You might also want to consider upgrading it to its premium version called Calais with all options. A good alternative might be Holden (GM) Statesman/Caprice which is even larger and a wonderful vehicle to cruise the country in.
