24" Rollaboard
 

Just purchased a rollaboard that is
24" x 15" x 8".

I noticed some airlines have a 22" length limit, and a 45" total measurement. I probably should have checked this out before, but hindsight is 20/20.

So should I return it,or will I get away with the extra 2"? I mostly fly AS and AC.

Return it and get the 22" which is good for at least 3- 4 nights for most people. Plus, you won't get embarrased when you get stuck with no room in the overhead trying to place a large bag that shouldn't be on the plane in the first place.

While the templates on the scanning machines don't do length, I would probably return it if the airlines you fly most have a 22 inch length. If thye are at 24 then keep it.

24" is really too big. I would take it back and get a smaller one. You can check the TravelSmith.com web site for 'legal' measurements for airlines.

By the way, even a 'legal' 22" won't fit the sizer if you fill up the outside pockets!

I'm using a 20", but then again I am a very small person.

a 24' bag will fit through the sizer as long as it is not too overpacked. Baisacially if you can handle it well, you'll get away with it. Th problem is generally grannies who do not lift them up, drag them down the aisles and then are unable to lift them up.

The long edge isn't what is being measured in a sizer, it can be 48 inches long and still fit into the machine. It's the other two dimensions that have to fit into the cut out.

the 24 or 20 or 22 or whatever only comes into play if they have you insert it in one of those "must fit in this box" things, and unless it's obviously huge I don't think that will be an issue. The issue, I think, is if it fits wheels first in the overhead.
