Cheap fares to Oslo --- Please help
 

My parents want to go to Norway on 7/24/02 returning 8/6/02 (true midweek flying). They are senior citizens and on a relatively fixed income. I'm trying to help them but perhaps they've asked the wrong person! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif

Can it be done for under $500/person from any of the New York airports? The websites I've tried (orbitz, travelocity, expedia) are giving me well over $500. I was hoping to get them to some place like LON and have them change airlines to a discount airline but flights to LON are pricy then too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here's a couple of ideas. Try the European version of Orbitz, etc. called Opodo. You'll often find fares not found here in the US but still in and out of the US. It's called opodo.co.uk

The other is to contact London bucket shops and get fares based in other currencies that the US dollar is strong against. Here's a few to try: www.netflights.com and www.cheaptickets.co.uk and www.allisonbrothers.com and www.citibond.co.uk

Analise, sometimes Icelandair runs some very good promos to Oslo via REYKJAVIK. Just an idea.

Blair, thanks for the link to Iceland Air. Right now their specials (which look good) expire on May 31 but I'm hoping that new ones will replace them with later expiration dates.
