Just curious: how are Olympic athletes getting to the games?
I've always wondered about this... Do you know how your country's Olympic team is getting to SLC? What airline and aircraft type, scheduled or charter? Are they flying directly to SLC, or stopping in say, LAX or JFK first?
Will the foreign flag carriers have special flights for them direct to SLC, or do they have to endure the likes of Delta, etc. like the rest of us? It's be interesting to see if SLC gets any unusual airlines/aircraft. I don't even know how the US team is getting there (I hope they are flying something better than DL economy though!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif ) Just interested in how these guys travel from the world over to get here... |
United keeps touting that they're carrying the US team.

Interestingly, just after the Sydney Olympics, I was at SFO a day or two after the closing ceremonies and had just come in on an International flight. While waiting for my luggage at the United baggage area, I noticed a UAL luggage tag going around anbd around on the belt and felt inclined to pick it up and read it.
As it turns out, it was the "official" United luggage tag of a USA swim team member, Julia Stowers. Though I don't think she won any metals, it was kinda fun finding the tag. |
The Swedish team was on SK. I believe they where on SK to ORD and then some other american carrier to SLC.
SK even had a flight ARN-OSL-SLC on the 7FEB. |
