Aside from two corrections (the province abbreviation for Québec is now QC, and Dallas' city code is QDF), I have two more cities for you.
Detroit, MI (DTT) - This includes: Detroit, MI (DTW-Detroit Metro); Detroit, MI (DET-Detroit City). Edmonton, AB, Canada (YEA) - This includes: Edmonton, AB (YEG-Edmonton International); Edmonton, AB (YXD-Edmonton City Centre). |
Thank you Silverpie! Your corrections and additions have been incorporated into the list. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Any others? |
Wow .. a lot of work eastwest .. a handy evolving reference, thanks. I know there must be reason for these below being omitted, or maybe just could be added where applicable, as "metropolitan" is such a loose term these days, and as you have EWR and NY grouped, even tho they are different states, likewise IAD/BWI/DCA these might all apply:
LAX-ONT-BUR-SNA MIA-FLL-PBI SFO-OAK-SJC Osaka - KIX-ITM Buenos Aires is EZE (Eiza) and downtown one which is ??? ------------------ ~ Glen ~ |
Just curious, eastwest, after my visit in Hyde Park this past weekend, who the heck flies into to CGX??? I watched from the Hancock Tower for a coupla hours last Thursday afternoon ... no action in sight (mebbe due to the passing thunderstorm) ... ???
|
eastwest -- A small correction/addition:
Moscow, Russia (MOW) - This includes: Moscow (SVO-Sheremetyevo); Moscow (VKO-Vnukovo); Moscow (DME-Domodedovo); Moscow (BKA-Bykovo). |
I cheated and did some hunting on United Connection 3.0 last night...
Found many more, and it was a hassle to get them...But I think some of them are only United Connection codes (not official city codes) used to distinguish the line of 'Any XXXX area airport', but do not work on at ual.com. Here are a few: QLA--All Los Angeles Area Airports (LAX, SNA, BUR, LBI, ONT) QBA--All San Francisco Area Airports (SFO, OAK, SJC) QMI--All Miami Area Airports (MIA, PBI, FLL) Then a few oddball ones: QNK--Any Kingston Jamaica Airport, KIN (Norman Manly Airport) and KTP (Tinson). QKA--Any Maui Airport, OGG (Kahului) and JHM (Kapalua) QBZ--Any Belize City Airport, TZA (Belize Municipal) and BZE (Belize Intl) SDZ--Any Shetland Islands Airport, LSI (Sumburgh) and LWK (Tingwall) And one legitimate one (I think): GLA--Any Glasgow Airport, GLA (Glasgow Intl) and PIK (Preswick) There were a few other even more remote ones (Sheltand Islands!?!?) that I didn't bother with. Sorry, I couldn't sleep last night...A little too much free time on my hands. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
This is such an excellent piece of research that I forwarded the thread to all of my employees who are responsible for air travel. Thanks, eastwest (from a former Anchorage resident)!

Nice, thanks! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Sorry for cheating -- or at least going to the source. Metropolitan Areas with Multiple Airports These codes don't specify single airports but whole areas where more than one airport is situated. BER Berlin, Germany BGT Baghdad, Iraq BHZ Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil BUE Buenos Aires, Argentina BUH Bucharest, Romania CHI Chicago, IL, USA DTT Detroit, MI, USA JKT Jakarta, Indonesia KCK Kansas City, KS LON London, United Kingdom MFW Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, FL, USA MIL Milano, Italy MOW Moskva, Russia NRW airports in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany NYC New York, NY, USA PAR Paris, France OSA Osaka, Japan OSL Oslo, Norway QDV Denver, CO, USA QLA Los Angeles, CA, USA QSF San Fransisco, CA, USA RIO Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil ROM Roma, Italy SAO Sao Paulo, SP, Brazil STO Stockholm, Sweden TYO Tokyo, Japan WAS Washington, DC, USA YEA Edmonton, AB, Canada YMQ Montreal, QC, Canada YTO Toronto, ON, Canada [This message has been edited by A Delta CUSTOMER! (edited 04-12-2001).] |
In BUE are EZE (Ezeiza, or Ministro Pistarini) and AEP (Aeroparque J. Newbery)
More complicated is the situation in Iguassu Falls. On the Brazilian side is IGU, Foz do Iguacu, and in Argentina IGR, Iguazu. |
Count me as someone who would love to see Meigs Field used more. A friend who used to work for the State of Illinois took the CGX-SPI shuttle frequently, and the convenience to the Loop (and points like Hyde Park, Woodlawn, and Pilsen) was wonderful.
When staying at the Conrad Hilton, you can see planes on approach at eye-level from the Towers lounge. |
You need to add SFB to ORL and MCO which now has BOTH schedualed domestic and international service as well as a whole lot of international charter service.

I just found this thread after trying to compile a list of my own from lots of different sources. I don't think that there really exists a *definitive* list as these seem to vary by the FAA, by different airlines, by different travel agents, etc. This is the most thorough list that I have, but I've pretty much given up on having a perfect list, though corrections or additions were certainly still be appreciated...
