Largest aircraft

Can anyone tell me which one is larger, Antonov 225 or A380? Thanks.

An225 is about 40-50% larger

40-50% larger based on what criterium (i.e. wingspan, gross weight, internal volume, etc.)? Just curious.

From the specs that I see, it seems like that though the An225 is larger than the A380, it is not by much. For example:

MTOW: An225 (1,322,750 lbs); A380 (1,235 000 lbs)
Wingspan: An225 (290ft); A380 (261ft 10in)
Length: An225 (275ft 7in); A380 (239ft 6in)
Max Thrust: An225(6 x 51,590 lbs); A380 (4 x 68,000 lbs)

So, by all gross measures, the An225 is of the order of 10% 'larger.'

Here are some pictures of the Russian beast:

Airbus has a huge plane that can fit in the entire fusalage of a narrowbody Airbus in it. I've been pictures of it before. I think there is only one; I believe it is used to carry planes that are in the process of being manufactured between various Airbus factories in Europe. How does it size compare? Of course, it has very very very little range!

You mean the A300-600ST (Beluga)? I saw its picture at Paris Airshow. It's not far from the Antonov 225. From the picture, the Beluga looks smaller that the Soviet aircraft.

Having seen the Beluga at the BErlin airshow, I would also think that it is smaller, yet maybe a bit higher.

FWIW, the An225 was built in part to ferry the planned 'Buran' (former SU version - some say copy - of the Shuttle) much like the 747 does, except in the case of the '47 the shuttle is strapped to the back, whereas the '25 was supposed to swallow most of it whole.

I saw the Beluga at LGA a week or two ago. The DL Shuttle pilot came on, and told everyone to look out the window at it.

It's really, really big...

Here is a ton of information about the An-225. It has lots of pictures as well as technical info.

Here is a little teaser quote:
The completely assembled fuselage of a Boeing 737 can be fitted in the hold.

a picture next to a <insert familiar a/c here> would sure help alot putting how big this thing is into perspective.

Last year I saw a HUGE aircraft sitting off of the runway at the Austin-Bergstrom airport. The guy next to me said it was the Antonov. They can't get much bigger than that.

I also saw this at LGA. I was surprised it could land and takeoff there with only 7,000 feet of runway.
