Airliners.net
How many newer members here are frequenters of airliners.net? There seem to be so many new members on Flyertalk whose posts seem similar to those on airliners.net.

Mmmmmmm BABY! Helluva site!!! Thanks for turning us on to it, zrs70.
|
Please tell me you don't mean the discussion forums there.
Gimme flyertalk any day of the week! |
I read it for the pictures, not the articles. (Wait! Do I have it backwards??? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif) |
me, i'm a frequent visitor of A.NET, in fact thats how i found out about flyer talk
|
Great site. Try "airliner.net".
|
I read there fairly often, and post infrequently. There is a LOT of pure ignorance on that board.
The technical forum has much better posts than the general discussion forum, imo. ------------------ "Service" should be a noun, not a verb. |
You'll find a few of my photos from Kai Tak there. After all, that's what drove me to go to HKG in the first place. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif Who knew that I'd fall in love with the city!
------------------ preez mine da pratform gahp. |
the people on airliners.net forums dont really know anything. And there is always fighting between the members. There are many children and teens who act like they know everything, which just ruins the forum.
------------------ It's great having unlimited upgrades! |
Check out this thread....... www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/496980/
I post there....but rarely. |
I read a bunch of threads in their trip reports section, and it seemed informative and civil overall. I read a great report about Eastern and Pan Am. So it's not all kiddie crud.
|
Just look at that thread that Carioca Canuck gave the address to, www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/496980/
The quality of that website is just going downhill. ------------------ It's great having unlimited upgrades! |
I first disdovered ANet about a year ago and was pretty excited at first, posted some messages but kept realizing most were answered by 16-20 year olds (Im in my 30's and grew up in an airline environment) and were not always 'accurate' in rationalisation.. I occasionally glance at the message board there because I am an aviation enthusiast (but always say to myself 'against my better judgement'!). There are always some very knowledgeable posters there, but i assume they eventually give up (eventually to be replaced by new knowledgeable people who find their way there) due to a constant redundancy of topics such as
BEST AIRLINE EVER? & those Airbus vs. Boeing threads, or the time some guy argued that TWA was never and could never have been based in NYC noor Continental in LA... Someone mentioned Pan Am threads of which there are a few knowledgeable people on the subject (I grew up with PA in the 70's-) but I assume the interest of PA by the under 25 crowd is really due to its sometimes talked about history and what it was about, as most there seem to have little true knowledge of a great US airline except for what is in the US now such as Delta, UA, NW and USair ..Of late which annoyed me was a thread about PA's first class service which one person mentioned it couldn't have been that great because they didn't have PTV's and fully reclining beds...sigh... On the other hand, it is nice to see some enthusiasm by younger guys (and girls) on the airliner environment, as when I was their age, we had no internet and no way of connecting with others like that. |
I'm one...and though I'm relatively young (under 22), I don't think that my posts there are too bad. Of course I don't know too much about technical stuff, but sometimes I'm amazed at some of the stuff that's posted there...as nwelite has pointed out, there are a few people my age but such silly posts as the A vs B war, AN/QF war (which I have to say takes place on FT - maybe it's just us Aussies), best airline etc., they're not particularly enriching. Occasionally some of the topics are interesting but they're few and far between.
I don't pretend to know a great amount, but I have to defend myself as reasonably knowledgeable, therefore I tend to comment only on posts I do know something about. Or picking flaws in ignorant posters' arguments http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif Regards, Clement http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
