Is the European pocket edition different? I have used it for several years and it has always included mileage and is in a from/to, not to/from format.

CO advertised a special for 3,500 OnePass miles with the last OP statement.

I stopped getting OAG about three months ago. I found I was getting almost all the information I used to get from OAG over the web. I only used it once in three years when I was stuck on a delay, and felt it just wasn't worth carrying around anymore. (I know others disagree with me on that.)

Then there's this other problem. The print's been getting smaller and smaller and fuzzier and fuzzier over the years. Don't know why they did that. I can't read the OAG anymore! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Does anyone know if there are any current specials for electronic versions (CDROM, LAN, etc.)? I will call the OAG sales desk tomorrow but my guess is that I am likely to get better info here.

Year ago, it came with another Flight Magazine, that I read as faithfully as I do the InsideFLyer.

Like so many others, I am tired of it and will not renew. The backward references to flights always is confusing to start. There are other things to read in those 'private' moments!

The magazine was called Frequent Flyer and it lived for about 15 years. It was much more useful than Inside Flyer because it had sections in the back which broke down all new services (air, hotel, rental car, even airport improvements) by region.
I actually miss it and although I have continued my OAG Pocket Flight Guide subscription mostly from habit (20+ years will produce this sort of habit), I no longer carry it in my briefcase and am contemplating cutting the cord at the next expiration. There are just too many sources now at our disposal for this kind of information and I really don't need another book just sitting on my desk.

I let my subscription lapse after they dropped the magazine. I never found the guide all that useful...more bulky crap to carry with me on the plane. I'd bag it or ask around for someone's old copy and see if you really think you'd use it.

Just as an FYI for those not aware, the OAG companion magazine, Frequent Flyer, still lives in electronic form at the website

As Monitor mentioned, the regional breakdown of air/travel related services was/is of some value, though, items are often repeated in the different regions. For example, new service between ATL-SAN, would be listed in both South and West. Great if you follow a specific region, somewhat redundant if you follow all regions.

What do you consider an alternative source of info to OAG, other than another print directory? I confess, I have subscriptions to North America, Asia, and Europe - and I carry the relevant issue when I travel. That way, if my Rome flight misconnects in London, I can quickly know my alternatives and be suggesting them to the ticket agent who is rerouting me. Sure, I carry a laptop - but it's not very convenient to power it up at that moment of stress.

btw, OAG offers bonus points on various airlines when you renew your subscription. I got 2000 AA miles for my last renewal. They often don't offer, but if asked, will always give the bonus code.
