Best overnight hotel at Dulles?
What's my best choice? All I need to do is sleep and head back to Dulles the next morning. A hotel with a reliable shuttle would be good.
|
I believe there is a Hyatt, a Marriott etc. in Herndon which is spitting distance.
|
I'm staying at the Hyatt Dulles right now and it's not bad. They have the type of rooms that are split in the middle with the TV console. Spilts out the bed area from the sitting area. For a Hyatt, it's not bad. There is also a Marriott that is slightly closer to the terminal.

I stayed (one short Friday/Saturday night) at the Marriott 2 years ago - they gave me free lounge access, compensating for not being able to give me the promissed/reserved non-smoking room.
Nothing special as pro/contra regards. Just a typical clean airport Marriott with fair/fast free shuttle connection. [This message has been edited by Rudi (edited 07-06-2000).] |
The Marriott Dulles is right at the airport and would be best if just looking for a place to sleep. But there is also the Washington Dulles Marriott Suites (just a few minutes away in Herndon) which is located in the Worldgate complex that offers shops, restaurants, and movie theaters that would give you some selection of things to do if you have the time.
Both have complimentary airport transport, but FYI, contrary to what it says on their web site, in-room safes are not provided. |
For just a place to sleep nearby, try the Hampton Inn or even the Comfort Inn! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Basically agree with PreEx that the Marriott Suites Dulles is perhaps the best at the airport itself, but it is a very short ride to Chantilly, where the Marriott Westfields Int Conf Ctr is located and this is by far the best in the area IMHO! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif FWIW, otherwise the local Hyatt (ie Dulles & note there is also another Hyatt Reston, Reston and Sheraton Reston too), Hilton, etc., are all basically eqivalent and nondescript in my view! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Have a pleasant rest! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif |
Stimpy at Dulles for an evening????? Praytell when and I'll come on over and tuck you in (or at least buy you a beer).
|
... and I may come along to make sure koko gets home with his cell phone. When will you be here?

You guessed it Geo! I should make it to the hotel by 9pm if you guys want to quaff a couple.
I'm Diamond with Hyatt and only Silver with Marriott so I'm leaning towards Hyatt right now, especially since the corporate rate is a bit better at the Hyatt. Thanks for the tips! |
So close.
Until Monday, I was scheduled to stay at the Hilton at Dulles on the 27th, but a client who wanted to meet in D.C. on the 28th convinced me to change my hotel to downtown and my flight to DCA on the 28th. Whole scene would probably have been too wild for an old lady like me anyway. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif |
We will be staying in Alexandria the night of the 20th, however, and would love to hook up with Geo and Koko and.......
|
Punki!!! Are you here the evening of the 20th or the 28th (July)??? I am out on the 20th but am here on the 28th and would love to see you. Maybe we can meet Mrs. Wald http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif ???

The new Hampton Inn is great! And very inexpensive too! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
