Suggestions for killing time in ORD?
Thanks to dumb luck, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif I have a lovely 3 hour layover in Chicago. Any suggestions on what to do. Last year I flew 100,000+ miles on every airline available due to my crazy schedule, so needless to say I get no respect from any airline. I have no club memberships.
The layover begins at 11am (so I guess the bar is potentially a bad idea). |
Visit the gym in the O'Hare Hilton and work out. Maybe not as fun as three or four bloodies on an empty stomach, but certainly better for you.

If you would like a nice meal while you're waiting, the O'Hare Hilton's restaurant, Andiamo, is worth a try. I've eaten there several times with friends who had lengthy layovers and we always enjoyed the food and service, plus the dining rooms were comfortable and attractive. Haven't eaten there in about a year so I hope it's still good.

Too bad you don't have an Admirals Club membership. You could log onto FlyerTalk in the business center!

What date are you going to be there?
You can try to find a FT'er that will be there at the same time to take you into one of the clubs as their guest. |
second the motion on wigstheone suggestion of
O'Hare Hilton Health Club. If you are HHonors member, gym only costs $5, good equipment, hot, high pressure showers. Only about 7 minute walk from UA B Concourse another 5 min from C Concourse. If you like , no make that love garlic, the salads at Wolfgang Pucks in B Concourse (I think near B4) are tops. |
Head over to one of the many LapTop Lanes, log on, and spend the time on FlyerTalk!

Mentally not a fan of the gym, but my a** will thank you later! I think the only reason I exercise is to avoid the drama of not fitting in the airplane seat. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif |
Yes, the Admirals Club is American Airlines' membership lounge.
Further to the Hilton recommendation, the in-airport hotel also has better-than-airport Italian restaurant and sports bar. |
If you just want air, take CTA 2 stops to Cumberland. At that intersection is a Dominick's supermarket which has a Starbucks inside.
Another alternative would be to take a cab to Park Ridge which is a pleasant upscale suburban downtown with a little shopping, about a $10 cab ride from ORD. |
