QE2
Dear fellow travellers,
I am looking for information on Cunardīs Queen Elizabeth 2. I would like to take a cruise next spring either in the Caribbean or from Southampton to NYC. I would appreciate any comments and suggestions concerning the QE2. Thanks in advance! niko |
Depends how much you are prepared to pay - the QE2 is supposed to be a one class ship but the grade of cabin determines which restaurant you eat in and there is a big big difference between the Mauretania and the Queen's Grill.

If you like the pomp and historic value take
the QE2. I was personally not impressed with the ship. Dinig as stated and shopping very limited. Bars are nice. Book spa and treatments way in advance. Small not so private pool areas. |
Never taken the QE2 on a cruise, but have done the North Atlantic run 4 times. I really enjoyed it. If you're thinking of next spring you can do something really neat. Assuming the Concorde is back in service (BA says it will be) Cunard has a special QE2/Concorde package that is a great value. My wife and I took it in 1998; Concorde to London, QE2 back to NYC. The fare was around $5200 US each.

The QE2 does not cruise the caribbean as it's draft is too deep for the islands. Mostly during the summer months it makes the Atlantic crossings between NY and Southhampton, I seem to remember it making an occaisional call at Bermuda, but I don't have the current sailing schedule.
It makes a "World Cruise" every winter and circumnavigates the globe. [This message has been edited by Leisuremiles (edited 06-07-2001).] |
