What about the caviar?

With all the changes and cutbacks in airline travel these days, I thought I'd start a thread about where you can still get good old caviar service in First Class. I was quite surprised to see caviar service on a recent AA flight from SFO-BOS, and I supect the AA's premium transcon has the only domestic caviar service. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

It seems that UA has dropped theirs on most int'l routes, but where else is the good stuff to be found?

LH longhaul has it for the first class cabin. LH serves it from a cart AND brings the cart back for seconds. Very nice!

I belive you are correct. AA's the only one w/caviar service domestically.

And I usually go for seconds on it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Many airlines have dropped this because the fish are endagered becuase of overfishing.

MikeFly Apr 17, 2001 9:29 pm

In my experience of late CX and SQ still have it in addition to the others mentioned earlier.

UA has eliminated canapes in F! I doubt if they will ever serve caviar again!

AA has it trans-oceanic as well, with smoked salmon on the same cart. And lobster tails on a different one - I think they come with the salad course.

Upgrades are nice.

How about BA or AF accross the Atlantic?
Just off two BA intercontinental flights. YVR-LHR and LHR-BKK in FC. No hint of caviar!

djbaruch Apr 18, 2001 7:44 pm

Pleanty of caviar on my SR transatlantic last year.

Tango Apr 18, 2001 11:21 pm

Please see my post on "Please do not eat the imported caviar".

There was a story recently (I think there is a link on the AA board) about American being duped into buying domestic caviar that had been labeled as Russian.

Sweet Willie Apr 19, 2001 3:52 pm

Take a look at Tango's thread stating one should not eat caviar due to severe overfishing.

nologic Apr 19, 2001 7:40 pm

I appreciate the fish warnings...but caviar will be served and eaten...just want to know where it is and isn't...not trying to offend :0

AF had it eastbound EWR-CDG - individual jar of Caviar House brand Osetra. This was not offered coming back to the US (four mini-appetizers instead).
