cheap inter-NZ flights
 

My friend wants to go to either Queenstown or Christchurch from Auckland on May 20th-ish. She doesnt care about the return cause she'll just be using the onw-way (i assume the 1-ways are just as if not more expensive then returns). The cheapest i have been coming up with is $619 NZ, or about $440 CAD, or $300ish USD, this seems kind of steep of a short flight? Is this always the case- can anyone help me out here, maybe a local NZ consolidator tel Number?? thanks

You'll probably find a return to be cheaper than a one-way. AKL-ZQN return, leaving the 20th, returning the 30th is NZ$499 (US$200).

AKL-CHC (Out May 20th back May 31st) is showing at NZ$359 (US$145). I got these prices from www.airnz.co.nz

Also, Air NZ have just started a domestic service with their budget airline Freedom Air. They're quoting fares as low as NZ$178 (US$72) AKL-CHC return (They don't do domestic one-way fares). They're on www.freedomair.com

You won't find any NZ consolidators able to do a better price, I'm afraid. AKL-ZQN is a 1hr 50min flight, AKL-CHC is 1hr 30min.

Also, today Qantas announced a bunch of specials on their 'temporary' domestic service during May (They start a permanent service on June 1st). They do one-ways from AKL to CHC for NZ$89 (US$35). They're on www.qantas.co.nz , and they are showing availability on May 20th. Get in quick!
