Looking for help on a low fare

My auntis getting married early next month in Britain. (Actually the whole family is there, we emigrated years ago) My mom would really like to attend the wedding but there are a couple of issues that are impeding us when looking for a cheap fare. First the wedding is on a Tuesday and second due to scheduling conflicts, my mom can't stay over a Saturday night. This is a very spur of the moment wedding (no shotgun involved ;-) so advance planning wasn't possible.

Is there anyway to get a decent fare to LGW or LHR(under $500-600 or so) without a Saturday night stay? The cheapeast I've seen is about $1000. She's willing to fly from RIC, BWI or IAD.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey HOKIE FAN!

Class of 87 here!!!!

That will be really tough... with no Saturday stay.

It might help if you can give the exact dates you are looking at so we can try to help.

Thanks

William

Unfortunately I didn't attend, but am now a diehard football fan and season ticket holder!

The wedding is on 4/10, so probably leaving 4/9 and returning 4/11 or 4/12.

Priceline is one option we are considering, but wanted to see what other options are available.

Thanks for your help!

I did a quick search on TISS.com for outbound 4/9 and return 4/12 (it wouldn't display any fares for a return on 4/11) from Washington area airports and it gave the following:

Icelandair 270.00 USD
Continental Airlines 369.00 USD
Major European Airline 504.00 USD

Unfortunately (I'm guessing because of the short notice) you need to call them up to check availability for any of these fares.
Their contact information is below.

tiss Ticket Center America

Phone: +1-(0)201-541-3826

Even though I'm assuming your mom isn't a student, Council Travel are also offering a $259 r/t fare to non-students on Icelandair on the date you wanted -their number is 1-800-2 COUNCIL.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the advice, TISS.com came through and she's leaving next Monday and coming back on Thursday for $475 RT (including taxes and fees)on Continental. Not sure how they work around the Saturday night stay requirement, but I'm not going to question it http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Thanks again for your help!!

Try Orbitz.com, it's still a beta site but it searches pretty darn well! Cheers mate!
