Overnight accommodation at LAS
HI Everyone,
I will stay overnight at Las Vegas on April 30, 2001. It is part of my mileage run. Originally, I am going to stay at New York New York because I have a whole day staying at LAS. But my travel plan has changed. I will fly in LAS late, and will depart at 6am the next morning. Which hotel/ motel should I stay? NY NY is about $80/night right now. Is there a cheaper option? nearer to LAS and I don't care if it is cheap. My criteria is safe and clean. A basic motel will be fine... since I will be there for about 6-8 hours. Thanks, Carfield |
I venture the rates should be cheaper as that is a midweek stay (barring any conventions/tradeshows). After finding whatever interests you, call the hotel directly to see if there are any special promo rates (check the Sunday travel section of a S. California newspaper). The HoJo has a $49 rate on Expedia as well as free 24 hr shuttle. The Orleans has a rate of $59 for your date on Expedia. A lot don't seem to allow bookings for stays of less than 2 days but they'll probably do a one-nighter on the phone.

Hi Carfield,
The Hard Rock Hotel is very nice (very stylish yet comfortable), and is actually actually a few blocks bit closer to the airport access/entrance road than NYNY (therefore also a shorter/cheaper cab or shuttle ride). April 30th is a Monday, which in LAS is good for lower rates when there are no major conventions in town). Also, Sunday thru Thursday nights are usually easier to book single nights. The Hard Rock reservations website is quoting a $69 rate, however, on another page, they list a prntable web-special coupon for $59. The thing is, the coupon expires on (you guessed it) April 30th. In all of my experience, this means that you WOULD be able to use it on the last day (the hotel would tell you for sure). Here's a link: http://reservations.hrhvegas.com/hrh...couponhrhi.htm Good luck and have a safe mileage run! If all you want is an inexpensive room, there's a Motel 6 in town. You save time not having to walk thru a casino to get to check-in!

If you are getting in late, and don't plan to pay a visit to the strip, you may want to stay at Las Vegas Hilton, it's currently running a special for $45/room that night.
go to www.lvhilton.com, and click on special offers, and current special offers. |

A quick look at my receipts shows I paid 33.00 a night. I think mid-week there are some casinos (like the circus circus) that are about the same rate. |
You could always do Priceline, and probably get an amazing deal.
