Work visas?
 

Hello, I'm a student in Canada, and I wish to travel to another country just for this upcoming summer -but have one problem.. limited funds.. I was wondering on requirements as to getting a work visa in ANY country, and the duration allowed for legal work. My friend just got one in New Zealand- and I had one last summer in the States (J-1)-worked at the Westin South Coast Plaza. I wouldnt mind going back again to stay with friends in Cali. Though this visa restricted me to work in that one hotel (had to get hired previously), didnt give me the freedom to pick a job when i got there. ANy info on any country? thanks

You can (or could) get "working holiday" visas for the U.K. and Australia if you are under a certain age. Not so easy and much more restrictive in the U.S. as you noted. You might research on whether you migth be eligible for citizenship in another country

I know that the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, France, Italy, Australia and New Zealand all have some form of working holiday arrangements. They are normally restricted to people under a certain age (27 to 30, depending on country), are valid for a year or two, and have restrictions on the type and amount of work you can do. I suggest you consider which country (or continent!) you are interested in, and approach embassies in Canada. Many governments and embassies have details of this sort of arrangement on their websites.

I would check out the government of Canada's website. I know that there are a good number of exchange programs/visas available.
