Using Priceline for Hawaii Rental Cars

I was thinking about using Priceline to rent a car for an upcoming Hawaii trip. Has anyone had any positive or negative experience using Priceline for Hawaiian rental cars. BTW, I have no preference regarding which rental car company I use, as long as it's a national chain.

If your party is no more than 2, try Budget's net specials on pickup trucks for $19.99. BTW, I got the tip from someone on this board.

Made some reservations for the relatives:

13-27 December @ LIH in very early November. Got a minivan from National for an opening $18/day bid $331 inclusive which is $180 less than National's (or anyone else's) best rate.
16-23 December @ LIH last weekend. Got a convertible for $18/day opening bid/$170 inclusive. That's about 1/2 the best rate from anyone else again.

No luck for 4 day rentals for vans in KOA or HNL.

I had good success in renting a car in Maui for $13/day (before fees & taxes). Details are as follows;

DH, I have rented the 19.99/day truck from Budget, albeit in Orlando. It is actually very comfortable, has huge luggage capacity (covered, locking bed) and in a pinch, can fit >2 in the rear jump seats (with shoulder belts). Highly recommended!
