Savannah Lodging/Locaton
Looking for recommendations for lodging in Savannah for a quick weekend trip. What part of the city is best to soak up the city experience?

For location, I like the Desoto Hilton. It's a few blocks off of River St. so you have a better chance for a quiet room.

The city is small so you can soak the whole thing if you are anywhere near the old town. We liked the Hyatt but the locals hate it! Read "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" before you go!

Yes, the Savannah Westin is now open. I have a conference there in 2 weeks.

Be sure to see Bonaventure Cemetery with its decorative headstones; either bus tour type (historic or "Midnight in the Garden") will make a stop there.
