Private Jet vs FF miles

If you own a private jet and can fly anywhere in the world, would you fly it and give up the FF program altogether?

Just curious.
I think I still want my miles http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

You must be kidding..... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

IMHO, by the time ones cash-flow allows for a private jet, then last thing you can be bothered with is FFlyer mileage.

Now... what should I get, a Gulfstream V or a BBJ... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Give me a private jet for a year and pay all the bills, and I will give you all of my FF points.

Yes, please I hope you're kidding. I would gladly trade every FF mile, amenity, award ticket, club lounge angel, elite status, priority reservation line, priority checkin line, etc for more trips in private jets.

There is nothing quite so convenient as pulling up to the valet at the FBO, having them grab your bags while you walk the 250 feet or so across the tarmac to your waiting jet. Doors close as you step on, taxi and take-off are immediate. Nice stocked fridge on board (ok, the head is a little cramped). Then upon landing you pull up to the FBO and there is a waiting rental car (yes, delivered to you on the tarmac), they load your bags into the trunk and away you go.

Once, in Orlando, I drove my rental car to within 30' of the aircraft door. Threw the attendant the keys and jumped on the plane. Yahoo!!

It seems we don't do this enough around here. There have been times where 4 or 5 of us will be travelling together, all in first class, and I'm sure the economics would work out in our advantage to just charter a jet.

Having had the opportunity to ride in the corporate jet on a few occasions, I can say without any reservation that if could ever afford to buy one myself, I would give up my frequent flyer miles and status in a heartbeat.

Moreover, I'd fly it myself.

I have access to a fractional ownership jet, and, while I only occasionally use it, there is no question. As others have said, I'd give up every elite status, FF mile, upgrade, etc, to use one all the time.

The smaller jets can be cramped, but you can't be the on-time status, go when you want, ease, convenience, etc. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
