proof of flight w/o a boarding pass?
My rather neophyte non-FF friend flew QF LAX-SYD and didn't keep her BP. Though I had called QF to put in her US FF no. on the itinerary before she flew, no miles have showed up after 4 weeks. Is there anyway she can get proof that she flew on the flight so she can claim the miles from US?
TIA |
The airline will have record of her booking and boardings.
Advise the airlines that the original boarding passes were not retained, and request credit despite it. It may be helpful to try to help the airline help you by referencing the PNR/record locator/confirmation code of her booking. If, for whatever reason, the airline declines or otherwise hems-and-haws about it being the "passenger's responsibility to ensure travel documents are appropriately retained, etc.," keep pressing. This can be done, and has been done many times by many others not limited to myself. It's really not that big of a deal. Good luck. |
Is there a printed itinerary/invoice or receipt? If so, it probably has the ticket #, which the airline can look up rapidly. Also, if it was issued by a travel agent, the agency will have the ticket # handy.

Related question:
I flew BA LHR-WAW (a codeshare flight, but a BA ticket) a few weeks ago. They had someone else's FF number in the record, which I noticed after they issued the boarding pass. I gave the agent my card and she claimed to enter it in the record. It has been a few weeks and the flight hasn't posted, though all my other BA flights from that trip have posted. I have the ticket and the boarding pass (though the BP has someone else's number). Do you think I could submit these and get credit for the flight, or will they assume they have already credited "someone"? |
This happened to me on AA a couple of years ago (before I wised up and became anal retentive about keeping everything) -- they actually accepted a copy of the destination tag attached to my suitcase when I checked in (luckily, I hadn't ripped it off and thrown it out like I usually do).

And don't forget the ever useful stamp in her passport (unless, of course, she is Australian)

Update: Called QF who said to write in to their service centre in Tucson. 10-15k miles are too valuable for her to leave behind since we'll be going to FLL (11k with 1st time US booking bonus for her, a mere 12k for me). Hopefully the miles will post some day.
